About Wildlife Warriors Steve and Terri Irwin established Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors in 2002, seeing a long-time dream of theirs fulfilled. After putting together their dream team to run the organization, the Irwins became patrons of the charity and had Australia Zoo become the Major Sponsor, committing to cover all administrative costs. A generous contribution such as this allows Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors to apply 100% of all public donations we receive directly to the conservation and preservation of wildlife. The Irwin Family Terri began working to actively help animals when she was a young, before ever meeting Steve. Her efforts began in 1986 when Terri started a wildlife …
About Elephant Whispers Elephant Whispers grew from humble beginnings and the love of nature shared by Rory and Lindie Hensman in Zimbabwe. Wayward circumstance brought them to South Africa where they created Elephants For Africa Forever (EFAF). EFAF grew into a one of kind experience which Linda herself embarked on, which allows humans to have one of a kind interactions with these gentle giants. At Elephant Whispers (EW), you can safari and interact with these intelligent creatures and their trainers. But EW is so much more. They partner with scientists and veterinarians alike to research and learn more about these amazing creatures as well as ways to protect them from …
About the DOT Challenge DOT, which stands for Do 1 Thing, is a challenge that encourages you to make simple lifestyle changes, known as DOTs, which have a positive impact on our environment. Most of these planet-saving changes can be implemented immediately, most likely won’t cost you anything and, in fact, will probably save you money. The DOT Challenge encompasses four categories; Water: Implementing water-saving techniques saves money and diverts less water from our dams, lakes and rivers. Conserving water can also reduce water and waste-water treatment costs, along with the amount of energy needed to manage them. Waste: The amount of global food waste produced could feed billions of people. Unfortunately, …
Thanda Safari Thanda Safari offers an authentically South African wildlife experience, matched with sincere commitment to the Zulu culture and passionate conservation of the environment. Zulu Culture The word zulu means ‘heaven’. The Zulu people, amaZulu, are ‘the people of heaven’ and their home, KwaZulu, is ‘the place of heaven’. Within the Nguni nations, the clan – based on …
One of the most amazing experiences I have had in my travels around the world is VIVID in Sydney which happens in May. For 18 days the city becomes an open air playground of lights and technology while indoors, people flock to conferences to see where their ideas fit within our rapidly changing world. I interviewed one of the masterminds behind the event, Anthony Bastic, a gentile, humble man who created this fete of light and other mind blowing creations for events like the Sydney Olympics, which I attended. At the opening ceremonies of that event, I thought,“could anyone ever top this?” Well, he did with VIVID! We marvel at …
Find out about the most visited privately owned attraction in Australia. See how owner, David Hammon, raises his kids in the bush and brings happiness to the child inside of millions.
Congratulations to Manuel Mantoya! Take a look at his entry below: “My wife and I have tapped into happiness by opening our home and hearts to people from around the world. During the last twenty years we have had the privilege of hosting 14 International students in our home. Students from Iraq, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Turkey, Korea, Zimbabwe, Sweden, and China were given a home away from home to complete their education. We’ve shared moments of joy, heartache, and broke bread with young adults from diverse backgrounds and cultures. By sharing our home, we were able travel the globe through the hearts and stories of our “adopted” children. We’ve also …
Witnessing kangaroos hopping through rows of grape vines in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia, made me feel that something magical was happening here. Apparently, there are vines in the Hunter that no longer exist in their place of origin, France. The morning we lifted off in a hot air balloon was a gift with still winds and a brilliant sunrise. The only thing that separated my feet from a thousand feet of air was the woven basket I stood in; fragile but strong enough for the task of lift off and an exciting landing which you will see in this story. As a wine lover, it is …
